Sanitary Trim — Cat Grooming Greenvale
A targeted clipping of the fur immediately around the rear end and underneath the tail. Improves hygiene and reduces litter sticking. No bath included.
Who is the Sanitary Trim for?
Long-haired cats with hygiene buildup near the rear, cats with mobility issues that struggle to self-clean, cats prone to litter trapping in the coat.
About the Sanitary Trim
The Sanitary Trim is a quick, focused service for long-haired cats whose fur traps faecal matter or litter. We clip a discreet area immediately around the anus and just under the tail base, leaving everything else untouched. The cat looks normal from any angle — only owners and vets would notice a change.
This is the right service for senior cats whose flexibility has reduced, post-surgery cats whose recovery has slowed self-grooming, very long-haired cats who simply cannot keep up at home, and cats with chronic loose stool whose owner is doing daily clean-up. Some owners book it as an add-on between full grooms, others as a stand-alone every 4-6 weeks.
The trim is done with a fine-blade clipper at a length that does not nick the skin. We never trim with scissors in this area — too close to delicate tissue. The whole appointment is short and your cat is kept on the table the entire time, no full bath, no extended handling.
What happens during the appointment
- Brief settling period at the table
- Clip the small zone around the anus and lower tail base
- Brief tidy of any clinging matter
- Optional ear clean if asked
- Pickup
What's included in the price
- ✓ Targeted sanitary clipping
- ✓ Brief tidy
- ✓ Cologne if you would like
Aftercare
No specific aftercare. Cats sometimes scoot once after the trim — this is reaction to a new feeling, not pain. If scooting continues for more than 24 hours, please call us — it can indicate an anal gland issue worth checking with a vet.
Sanitary Trim — Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I book a sanitary trim?
Every 4-8 weeks for cats that need it consistently. Some cats only need it as part of their main groom — in which case it is included in the Lion Cut, Teddy Bear Cut, and De-shedding Spa for free.
Will this fix my cat's smell?
If the smell is from coat trapping waste, yes. If the smell is from skin or anal-gland issues, see a vet — a sanitary trim alone will not solve those.
Is this the same as a "hygiene cut"?
Yes — different name, same service.
Do you do this for all cats or just long-haired?
Mostly long-haired and medium-haired. Short-haired cats rarely need it and the service is usually unnecessary for them.
