Matt Removal is for cats whose coat has 3-10 distinct mats that can be individually addressed without clipping the whole body short. Common locations: behind the ears, under the chin, where the harness rubs, around the back legs, and on the belly.
We use specialised mat-splitting tools and a combination of detangling spray, slow comb-through, and clipping the mat at its base where needed. The aim is to keep as much coat length as possible while removing every mat. This service is significantly more time-intensive than a regular lion cut — mat-by-mat work cannot be rushed without injuring the cat — hence the higher price.
Whether matt removal or a full Lion Cut for Matted Coats is the right choice depends on the matting density. We will assess on arrival and tell you honestly. If the matting is too widespread, the lion cut is faster, safer and better for the cat — and we will not push the more expensive option for the sake of revenue.

Aftercare
The de-matted areas may have slightly thinner coat — this is normal and grows back in 4-8 weeks. Brush at home every 2-3 days to prevent recurrence. Pay particular attention to the areas where mats were found; they tend to recur in the same spots.

My cat has just one or two small mats — do I need this service?
